You would be responsible for collection, triaging, delivery, accessioning, quality and tracking of all incoming gross pathology specimens.
What You Will Do:
Picks up specimens from locations as needed and transports appropriately to the Pathology department. Correctly identify specimens, registers, accessions and tracks, and delivers to appropriate location/department including send out testing. Ensures supplies are ordered and organized for department. Ensures appropriate handling of blocks, specimens, and cassettes. Performs frozen sections, assists with FNA's, performs Pap Smears and other procedures. Performs appropriate lab maintenance. Properly cleans and disinfects equipment, instruments and work areas. Any other duties assigned by Supervisor/Manager.

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Hospital based pathology laboratory or gross room experience preferred. Organized and have the ability to learn new techniques, procedures and regulations efficiently. Able to organize workload effectively and work quickly with high level of accuracy. Must have excellent computer knowledge and medical/lab terminology. Knowledge of lab safety, infection control, quality policies and procedures. Knowledge of Lab Information System. General knowledge of lab maintenance and daily operations. General knowledge of proper lab procedures, reagent storage, and specimen handling. Able to be alert and pay special attention to detail as aspects of job require working with potentially hazardous materials. Excellent communication skills including verbal and written and implementation of these skills in telephone and interpersonal conversations. Able to effectively document lab results and clinical notations. Excellent problem-solving skills in order to manage the day-to-day issues that may arise and notify manager of issues. Able to use discretion and independent judgement to problem solve and make quality decisions related to clinical lab scenarios.
