GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assists in the delivery of health care and patient management.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Involves standing and walking. Requires exposure to bodily fluids. Occasionally lifts items weighing up to 50 pounds.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to bio-hazardous materials. Medication preparation and administration. Fast-paced, busy medical office. Using computer-based software.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
(This list may not include all duties assigned.) Performs selected medical assistant and administrative duties, as delegated by the nursing staff. Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Assesses and records vital signs, including weight. Assists in the upkeep of the Infusion Suite with restocking, cleaning equipment, and general cleanliness. Orders and maintains clinical supplies and equipment. Assists infusion staff with ordering infusion supplies. Schedules patients for infusion therapy and office visits. Administering SQ/IM injections, as directed by the physician, in compliance with company policies. Communicates with providers and other staff members, as appropriate. Prepares lab specimens and requisition forms for appropriate labs according to practice insurance participation. Performs phlebotomy on patients and prepares laboratory samples for delivery to appropriate laboratories, both in house lab and reference labs. Check lab values for scheduled patients to assist Infusion Nurses Remains current with the policies mandated by Federal and local governments, Medicare/Medicaid programs and other private healthcare programs regarding handling of laboratory work, medications and ancillary services. Attends Departmental Meetings. Performs related work as required. Other Duties as

ARISE MEDICAL ASSISTANT PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Knowledge of medical practice, to assist in giving patient care. 2. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and injection/infusion procedures. 3. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards, OSHA regulations and precautions to establish a safe working environment. Basic knowledge of different health insurance requirements regarding medications, ancillary services, infusions, and injectables. Skills relating to medical record taking, medical test results and vital signs. Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to adapt to changes in the department. Ability to think critically in the clinical setting. Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Ability to follow instructions and report to senior staff members. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Floating to other sites, as appropriate, for staffing needs in the department. Maintains current licensure and certifications necessary to perform duties and legally practice in the state(s) licensed. Adheres to all ARA and ARISE Policies and Procedures.

Follows compliance requirements pertaining to collection and handling of laboratory specimens including, but not exclusive of, collection, temperature, containers and proper disposal of materials. Follows guidelines for maintaining patient confidentiality. Demonstrates a strong commitment to honest and responsible corporate conduct. Identifies, reports and/or prevents any fraudulent or unethical behavior. Initiates notification to management if inappropriate behavior is observed within the organization. HIPAA-Minimum Necessary Access to PHI The responsibilities associated with this position allow access to the computer "role" of ARA Check In/Out only. We are committed to enforcing minimum necessary access to our patients' PHI by limiting the uses and disclosures of this information within our practice. In order for this employee to carry out his/her job (carry out TPO) in a manner that best serves our patients, the employee needs access to the afore mentioned computer "role". Role descriptions are explicitly defined in our HIPAA manual. Access to computer information is password protected. Upon termination of an employee, his/her password will be deleted from the system.
EDUCATION
1. High School Diploma 2. Advanced Medical Assistant Program (CMA)
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two years of experience as a medical assistant. Infusion experience preferred. Injection / IV experience, a plus.
