Full Job Description Overview:
Foxhall Pediatrics is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Medical Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in helping our physicians provide attentive and efficient care to children and families in a professional and supportive environment to our pediatric patients from birth to 21 years of age. This includes direct and indirect patient care tasks. The ideal candidate will be skilled in both clinical and administrative tasks and comfortable working in a fast-paced pediatric office setting. This position is Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm with a 1 hour lunch break daily from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Why Join Us? Direct Patient Care Duties:
Screen, triage, and room patients in a timely manner. Document brief history of present illness in the electronic health record. Obtain all age-appropriate vital signs. Collect laboratory specimens for in‑office point of care testing and send‑out labs Perform vision and hearing screenings. Administer all oral and injectable vaccines as ordered by physician. Document vaccines accurately in the patient's electronic health record and maintain entries in required logbooks. Answer and triage clinical phone calls, gathering relevant patient information. Utilize Barton Schmidt pediatric triage protocols to ask appropriate questions. Communicate medical advice only as directed by the physician. Document all interactions in patient's chart.
Indirect Patient Care Duties:
Prepare exam rooms and clinical areas to ensure readiness for patient care. Run all lab controls and record daily temperatures. Follow lab procedures for specimen handling, test performance, and result reporting. Maintain vaccine inventory Clean and maintain instruments and medical equipment. Keep detailed inventory on medical supplies. Wipe all counters, exam tables and other surfaces and stock all exam rooms. Complete Prior Authorization request for patient medications. Prepare school and health forms. All other duties as requested by physicians
Qualifications:
Prior experience in pediatrics and medical assisting Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and medical terminology Strong clinical skills in vital signs, vaccine administration, and pediatric care Demonstrated patient service and communication skills Familiarity with triage protocols and phone etiquette Experience with blood sampling (capillary and venipuncture) preferred Certification in Medical Assisting is a plus
