This role involves assisting providers with clinical and administrative duties, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for patients and providers alike in a fast-paced orthopedic setting. As a medical assistant, you are assigned to a specific provider but you will travel between our different locations to provide exceptional care to our patients when needed.
We are located in:
Atlantis, Boynton Beach, Wellington, and Boca Raton, this role travels between locations. The Medical Assistant provides assistance to the providers and provider's assistants with daily clinical and administrative duties, including but not limited to: Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room. Directs patient to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout. Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares exam room for patients to enter. Cleans and autoclaves instruments. Provides and scans proper paperwork to the chart for provider's review. Takes and records vitals as per provider's request. Prepares injections for the provider. Pulls up x-rays, MRI's, CT's, and various studies pertaining to the patient's exam. Assists patient with clothing when necessary. Disposes of bio-hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation and replaces sharps containers when existing containers are full. Performs basic blood draw/Phlebotomy Performs instrument sterilization Answers telephones in patient areas. Requests reports for various facilities for providers. Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the provider and directs provider in patient appointment order. Reviews provider schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in the chart. Completes pre-certifications for MRI's and other provider orders as necessary. Send injection authorization request to supplement pre-certification representative Covers other areas in the office when not assigned to a provider. Maintains the strictest confidentiality in all aspects of work, including patients and personnel. Performs computer functions accurately and completely. Immediately following an exam performs the patient/billing function. Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested. Fosters a collaborative, positive workplace atmosphere by building strong relationships with coworkers, providers, and referring physicians, while upholding the practice's culture and values. Delivers exceptional customer service with a positive, helpful attitude toward patients, staff, and providers, ensuring strict confidentiality in all work aspects. Demonstrates strong multitasking, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills, with a team-oriented, customer service-driven approach and excellent communication abilities. Performs any other duties assigned for this role Schedule required: 7:45AM- 5:00PM (Sometimes clinic goes beyond 5:00PM) Education required: Completed an accredited Medical Assistant; LPN; ATC (preferred).
Experience required:
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant; LPN or ATC.
Professional license or certification requirements:
Maintain active Medical Assistant certification; Practical Nursing Licensure; AL License (preferred). Current CPR certification. Valid driver's license to travel to other offices, if needed.
