The practice serves both adults and children, accepting various insurances, including Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans. Specializing in a range of mental health conditions, the practice offers innovative treatments such as ketamine therapy, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), TMS and Spravato treatments. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Psychiatric Medical Assistant located at our Clearwater, FL clinic. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the administration and monitoring of ketamine, Spravato and TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) treatments for patients. The Medical Assistant supports the clinical team in delivering safe, compassionate, and effective ketamine-assisted treatments for patients experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, past trauma, and other qualifying conditions. Additionally, the Medical Assistant will perform TMS treatments as well as front desk duties. This role involves patient support, session preparation, monitoring, administrative coordination, and maintaining a therapeutic, calming environment. The Medical Assistant works under supervision of licensed medical professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Support & Session Preparation Greet patients, review session flow, and help ensure they feel safe and informed prior to treatment. Assist with pre-session assessments, including vital signs and patient check-ins as directed by licensed staff. Prepare treatment rooms, including lighting, music, comfort items, and required supplies. Provide grounding, reassurance, and supportive presence during sessions (non-clinical emotional support). Session Monitoring (Non-Clinical) Monitor patients throughout sessions and immediately notify supervising clinicians of any concerns. Document observations according to clinic protocols. Assist with recovery and post-session transitions, ensuring patients are stable before discharge per clinician approval. Administrative & Clinic Operations Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow. Maintain accurate patient records and support data-entry tasks. Prepare treatment room inventory, restock supplies, and ensure cleanliness and organization. Support providers with paperwork, patient education materials, and follow-up communication. Safety & Compliance Adhere to all clinical and safety protocols, including privacy (HIPAA) regulations. Assist with equipment sanitation and medication handling procedures. Participate in ongoing training regarding ketamine/Spravato therapy, trauma-informed care, TMS and emergency response protocols. Qualifications:
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a mental health or behavioral health setting is strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to remain calm and attentive in emotionally intense environments. Comfort working with altered states of consciousness and non-ordinary psychological experiences. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Knowledge of psychiatric terminology, mental health diagnoses, and medication management practices desired. Experience with psychedelic-assisted therapy settings or somatic/holistic healing practices. Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems is a major plus. Proficient use of basic computer applications - Microsoft apps, search engines, scanning, etc. Key Competencies:
