POSITION GOAL
To appraise, protect and promote the health of the students at assigned school(s) within the scope of practice
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
- Staff school health room, perform health evaluations and administer first aid with referral to the Nursing Supervisor as needed. 2.
- Administer prescription medications in accordance with policy, procedures and other governing rules. 3.
- Maintain supplies and keep health room and work area clean and neat. 4.
- Assist in the management of health problem referrals. 5.
- Assist in the provision of routine health screenings, referrals and follow-up of students. 6.
- Review and interpret student health records for compliance to Florida Statutes. 7.
- Maintain appropriate and accurate documentation of all treatments, procedures, and medications.
8. Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Nursing Supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent Successful completion of a training program to become a medical assistant or a certified nursing assistant Two (2) years of experience in providing nursing or direct patient care services of a medical nature in a public health, hospital, clinic, infirmary, or nursing/convalescent home preferred Hold current CPR and first aid certification Possess a valid Florida Driver's License; if a holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver's License, agree to acquire a Florida Driver's License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required
REQUIRED SKILLS
Ability to administer medications safely and accurately Ability to maintain confidentiality of student health issues Ability to communicate clearly with parents, physicians, other health care workers, faculty and school administrators Ability to communicate with students on their cognitive level Ability to assist in the provision of health assessments Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Control Principles and Universal Precautions
