GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Responsible for assisting Patients from the Lobby to the Exam Areas, perform clerical and basic clinical patient care, environmental and organizational tasks. Responsible for ensuring timely patient flow into the exam areas and some chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services. Conveys a positive image of clinic and assists patients in their understanding of the computer programs and apps available to them to coordinate their healthcare.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians/nurse practitioners with various procedures; charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information. 2. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing and charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately. 3. Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include: setting up and cleaning exam/procedure rooms, sorting, storing supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms; 4. Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned which may include: respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisors quickly. 5. Maintains strictest confidentiality and complies with HIPAA Privacy standards as they relate the healthcare clinic and Protected Health Information (PHI).Security Level allows read and write access to Patient Health Records and Financial Data. 6. Security Level is restricted from master and set-up files, operations files, all business financial records and data. 7. All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Minimum High school diploma and company on-the-job training program.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of one year work experience in public contact job, preferably service related. Experience or interest in health care preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
Maintains CPR certification.
KNOWLEDGE
1. Knowledge of health care field and medical specialty. 2. Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical specialty. 3. Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families. 4. Knowledge of basic computing.
SKILLS:
1. Skill in performing tasks appropriately and efficiently. 2. Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions. 3. Skill in understanding of patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families. 4. Skill in understanding basic computer system input and output.

Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others. 5. Ability to learn new and update computer programs.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS
Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings including extensive use of wireless and wired computers, monitors and screens. Well-lighted, well-ventilated, adequate space. Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to clinic setting. May be required to work evenings, weekends and/or Holidays.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies. Must be able to walk extended distances and carry up to 5 pounds of electronic equipment for extended periods of time. Must be able to be able to stand for long periods of time.
