Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support our Nephrology practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, medical administrative support, and clinical procedures within outpatient and inpatient settings. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with healthcare professionals to provide exceptional nephrology services, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and efficient clinic operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a solid understanding of medical terminology, and proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Responsibilities Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately. Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to assist in patient assessments. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort. Support clinical tasks such as medication administration, specimen collection, and basic wound care under supervision. Maintain accurate documentation within EHR systems, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures. Coordinate appointment scheduling, follow-up visits, and patient communication to optimize clinic flow. Assist with diagnostic procedures including X-ray preparation or other imaging as directed by physicians. Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to infection control, HIPAA regulations, and hospital policies. Requirements Proven experience supporting nephrology or related specialties such as dermatology, internal medicine, or hospital medicine. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to nephrology care. Experience working in outpatient clinics or hospital environments with exposure to Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications in emergency medicine or medical-surgical nursing are advantageous. Familiarity with EHR systems and ICD coding for accurate documentation of patient encounters. Ability to perform intake assessments, measure vital signs accurately, and support medication administration protocols. Prior experience working in inpatient settings such as ICU (Intensive Care Unit) or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) is beneficial but not mandatory. $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
