This role is essential to ensuring an efficient workflow for the physician and an exceptional experience for our patients. The Medical Assistant will guide patients through their visit, support the physician with clinical tasks, document patient information in the electronic health record (EHR), and assist in minor procedures. A strong memory for details, excellent organizational skills, and a professional yet empathetic demeanor are required.
Key Responsibilities Patient Interaction:
Welcome patients and guide them through their journey in the office. Provide clear instructions regarding the physician's plans, procedures, and follow-up care. Room patients and prepare them for examinations, ensuring all necessary information is documented.Physician Support:
Assist the physician in maintaining an efficient workflow throughout the day. Scribe or enter data into the EHR quickly and accurately during patient exams. Assist in minor in-office procedures, including setup and patient preparation.Diagnostic Testing:
Perform ophthalmic diagnostic tests such as visual fields, OCT, and other imaging as needed.Administrative Tasks:
Guide patients through the check-out process, ensuring they understand any next steps. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with HIPAA.General Responsibilities:
Monitor and organize exam room readiness, including restocking supplies. Educate patients on treatments, medications, and instructions provided by the physician. Ensure excellent communication and coordination between the clinical and administrative teams.Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent training preferred, but is not required.Experience:
Prior experience as a medical assistant or similar role in a healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory. Experience in ophthalmology or with electronic health records (EHR) is a plus.Skills:
Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken). Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Proficient in multitasking and time management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to learn and perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing. Key Attributes Professional, empathetic, and patient-focused demeanor.
