  • Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the medical terminology, especially ENT related, medical abbreviations, medication and commonly used instruments.
  • Set up all treatment rooms in accordance with physicians' needs and preference.
  • Assist with physician's schedule to assure appropriate flow of patients to treatment rooms and communicate any scheduling delays to front office staff.
  • Obtain and record in EHR, including but not limited to vital signs, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, weight, drug allergies, current medication, and chief complaint.
  • Update medications, allergies and medical surgical, family and social history at every encounter and ensure all test results are available in the patient's medical record.
  • Review patient information from the patient portal and accurately transfer it to EHR as recommended by office protocol.
  • Manage orders and results log in EHR weekly and ensure all outstanding items are reconciled.
  • Ensure certificated correspondence are sent to non compliant patients in a timely manner.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments according to OSHA guidelines and aseptic procedure and assure that all instruments are sanitized, and rooms are stocked, organized, and set up at the end of day for the next day.
  • Perform triage as necessary, document patient plan of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed by provider and to comply with physician practice protocols.
  • Ensure medications are e-prescribed in accordance to physician(s) preferences.
  • Assure the autoclave is cleaned daily, weekly, and monthly, spore testing is conducted weekly and logged in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
  • Sterilize and handle flexible and rigid scopes and instruments in accordance with manufacturer's and ENTAAF requirements.
  • Properly dispose of biomedical waste and hazardous material, to include but not limited to sharp instruments.
  • Notify lead MA/Office Manager of any needed supplies and medications prior to depleting the office's available stock.
  • Maintain current inventory and rotate inventory from oldest to newest.
  • Maintain sample medication inventory; discard expired samples and request additional samples from pharmaceutical reps when inventory levels are low. Maintains sample medication log to include the lot number of medication.
  • Check voicemails, faxes etc. and accurately document patient /physician messages, throughout the day, and provide responses and return calls based on physician(s) preferences.
  • Schedule appointments for patients, diagnostic tests, surgery and obtain authorizations, based upon physician orders.
  • Adhere to the ENTAAF's employee's handbook, policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to the Commitment to Coworker's.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. May be required to travel based on practice needs.
  • Report all patient and employee incidents to lead MA/office manager immediately after ensuring patient/employee/self is stable and assist in documentation.
Assist physician(s) in any other duties as requested based on certification Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; additional healthcare-related certifications are preferred. Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar clinical support role is advantageous. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, infection control practices, and basic clinical procedures. Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect empathetically with diverse patient populations. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer skills. Certification in CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) is a plus but not mandatory at the outset; willingness to obtain certification is expected. OSHA Category Non- Clinical:
This position performs tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned Category I procedures. All ENTAAF employees are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis B vaccination series. ☒
