Job Description

Medical Assistant for
Busy Cardiology Office Monday- Friday Position Summary:
Prepares treatment rooms and assists physicians as part of the clinical team. Takes initiative to be sure doctors and patients scheduled times are proficiently managed by accurate retrieval of medical records. Achieves accurate and timely completion of procedures prior to each doctor-patient encounter. Services the needs of patients in a manner that promotes patient satisfaction, privacy and safety.
Primary Functions:
1. Prepares exams rooms for physician or physician assistants. 2. Takes patient's vital signs, performs EKGs, Pulse Oximetry and assists with hookups for device checks. 3. Completes any required paperwork. Completes documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) as required by clinical policies and workflows. 4. Pre-loads clinical patient information into the EMR system. 5. Assist triage staff with call backs to patients. 6. Assist with medication refills and medication sample labeling following clinical policies. 7. Maintain practice and patient confidentially and protect the physicians license.
Safety/Office Standards:
Employee follows guidelines, policies, and procedures as stipulated through the orientation process and as outlined in manuals: Employee Handbook, Clinical Department manual, HIPAA Regulations, Compliance Program, Bloodborne Pathogens, Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Hazardous Materials Management Plan, TB manual, and Bio-Medical Waste Management Plan.
Qualifications:
Must be a graduate of a technical school for medical assistants and have previous job related experience in a medical doctor's office setting with current certification.
General Skills:
1. Ability to read and understand documents and records 2. Ability to write and prepare documents and reports 3. Ability to understand and perform math computations 4. Ability to learn how to use various office and computer equipment.
