Petersburg Join our team at Lori McAuliffe Pediatrics, a Division of Florida Pediatric Associates and play a key role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to our patients. In this position, you will support healthcare providers, contribute to a positive patient experience, and be part of a collaborative, patient-focused team dedicated to making every visit meaningful.
Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of a Medical Assistant is to provide clinical and administrative support for Division clinical and administrative staff. Education, Training, and Certification High School Diploma or GED Medical Assistant Certification preferred Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Experience One year of Medical Assistant experience in a medical practice.
Skills Working Knowledge of:
Medical equipment and clinical instruments Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems Principal Duties and Responsibilities Obtain vital signs and other clinical assessments as indicated and document in the EMR. Assist the practitioner with patient examinations and treatments. Gather, review, and organize patient documentation and prior medical records for evaluation by the practitioner. Perform charting and clerical tasks, including processing prescription requests and coordinating refills with pharmacies. Triage patient phone calls to identify emergent and non-emergent situations and escalate concerns appropriately. Maintain efficient patient flow by coordinating rooming, procedures, and follow-up activities to ensure seamless patient care. Clean and disinfect exam rooms and equipment between patients in accordance with OSHA and infection control protocols. Provide patients with educational materials and guidance to support informed treatment decisions. Accurately document patient encounters, treatments, and communications in the EMR system. Respond promptly to medical emergencies and seek immediate assistance from senior clinical staff. Assist with administrative tasks including front office duties such as answering phone calls and scheduling patients. Exercise sound judgment, discretion, and initiative in performing assigned duties and supporting clinic operations.
