  • Medical Case Review Assistant Job Overview An established Sarasota law firm has an immediate opening for a detail-oriented healthcare professional to assist our Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice team on a part-time basis.
This position is ideal for an individual with a nursing, clinical, medical records, risk management, or other healthcare background who is interested in applying their medical knowledge in a legal setting. The successful candidate will assist attorneys with reviewing potential medical malpractice claims, analyzing medical records, and preparing medical summaries and chronologies. Responsibilities Review medical records for potential medical malpractice cases. Assist attorneys in evaluating new case inquiries and identifying potential issues related to standards of care, causation, and damages. Prepare organized medical chronologies and summaries of treatment records. Review and summarize newly received medical records throughout the life of a case. Identify missing records and assist with record organization. Research and identify relevant medical specialties and treatment standards when needed. Assist attorneys with deposition, mediation, and trial preparation involving medical issues. Attend case strategy meetings and provide insight regarding medical records and treatment. Qualifications
  • Some healthcare background required, including but not limited to: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Registered Nurse (RN) Retired Nurse Medical Assistant (MA) Paramedic Medical Records Specialist Other healthcare professionals with significant clinical or medical records experience
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare documentation.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and summarize complex medical records.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic records systems. Position Details Part-Time Position (approximately 10-20 hours per week, flexible) In person
