Job Description

NEEDED:
Medical Assistant
LOCATION
501 Capital Circle N.E., Tallahassee, FL 32301
SCHEDULE:
40 Hours, M-F, between 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant school or program. Shall maintain current certification as a Medical Assistant in the State of Florida. Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
JOB DUTIES
Provide nursing care to include, taking and recording patient history, vital signs, making appointments, assisting Mid-Level Practitioners and physicians in clinical activities. Assist the Optometrist with vision screening and exams. Perform venipuncture from patients for analysis or other medical purposes when necessary. Collect and process Urinalysis. Adhere to infection control policies and procedures. Ability and skill to operate EKG and laboratory equipment. Knowledge of mental health disorders and must have the ability to screen for gross mood changes. Ability to provide basic first aid, prevention care, and guidance in treating a variety of common illnesses/injuries. Properly triage sick-call complaints and refer to RN or APP as appropriate. Perform duties as required but accept only those assignments that are commensurate with his/her educational preparation, training, experience, and licensure laws. Operation of EKG machine, and other special medical apparatus and equipment within the HSU. Will assist providers in the urgent care room when necessary. General medical assistant duties. Maintain supplies in all exam rooms. Screening eye exams and assisting physicians and mid-level practitioners in minor surgical cases. Maintain daily sick call list and place Inmates on call out as needed. Other duties as assigned.
