Panhandle, FL 32308 Job Responsibilities Skills and abilities of a Pathologist Assistant includes:- Under direct or indirect supervision of a pathologist, performs accessioning, dissection, histologic sampling, and gross examination of a full range of anatomical specimens, following established protocols.
- Performs frozen sections and other intra-operative consultations within established protocol and procedural parameters.
- Clearly and accurately describes specimens and their measurements using canned dictation whenever appropriate.
- Verifies specimen identity to prevent medical errors.
- Uses correct specimen cassettes and starts tissue processor as needed.
- Performs special hospital procedures and protocols, such as cancer research studies.
- Safely operates Faxitron and other laboratory equipment.
- Trains and mentors new students and new hires.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Pathologist or Administrator.
