Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Pathologist Assistant, a vital role dedicated to supporting the pathology department in delivering accurate diagnostic services. In this energetic and detail-oriented position, you will assist pathologists by preparing and examining tissue specimens, ensuring precise processing and documentation. Your expertise will contribute to patient care excellence, advancing medical research, and supporting hospital operations. Duties Assist with specimen collection, processing, and preparation for histopathological examination Perform gross examination of surgical specimens, documenting findings accurately Prepare tissue samples using laboratory techniques such as embedding, sectioning, and staining Maintain meticulous records of specimen handling, processing steps, and results Support research laboratory activities by organizing samples and assisting with experimental procedures Conduct routine laboratory tasks including specimen labeling, storage, and disposal following aseptic techniques Monitor vital signs and ensure patient safety during specimen collection procedures when applicable Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure proper specimen documentation and communication of findings Qualifications Prior experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting is highly desirable Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology Hands-on experience with laboratory procedures such as tissue processing, staining, and microscopy Proficiency in laboratory techniques including aseptic technique and specimen handling Familiarity with phlebotomy, specimen collection, and patient care practices Hospital experience or exposure to healthcare environments is a plus Ability to interpret vital signs and apply relevant safety protocols during procedures Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping
Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in health or science field required.
  • Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) required.
  • Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program preferred.

Pay:
$90,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
