Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmology Medical Assistant/Technician to join our clinical team. This role requires performing basic, advanced, and complex ophthalmic procedures while supporting the physician and ensuring an exceptional patient experience. The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, compassionate, and able to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. Candidates must demonstrate strong computer skills, excellent communication abilities, and the professionalism required to support both patients and providers. Prior experience in an ophthalmic setting is preferred. Core Responsibilities Interview patients to obtain ocular and medical history, chief complaint, medications, allergies, and family history. Perform preliminary eye function testing and explain procedures and medications to patients. Assist the provider during ophthalmic examinations, including obtaining history and performing routine diagnostic procedures. Conduct complete patient work‑ups based on clinical history and chief complaint; accurately document all findings. Instruct patients regarding medications, diagnostic tests, and treatment plans. Prepare exam rooms, ensure proper sterilization, and anticipate provider needs for each visit. Maintain and stock supplies, instruments, and equipment in exam rooms. Assist with minor eye procedures and exams, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Manage instrumentation and maintain supply levels to support workflow efficiency. Prepare patient charts for exams and potential surgeries to support clinical readiness. Field patient emails and calls, providing clear communication and timely follow‑up. Surgical Schedule Coordination with the hospital and ensure all pre‑operative requirements are met.
