Job Description

Overview We are a patient-centered family practice committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care. Our team fosters a collaborative and professional environment where staff and patients feel supported. We are seeking a versatile and motivated Medical Assistant (Front & Back Office) to join our team. This role involves a combination of clinical and administrative duties, playing a vital part in ensuring an excellent experience for our patients and smooth operations for our providers.
Key Responsibilities:
Front Office Duties As the first point of contact, you will: Greet patients warmly, check them in and out efficiently, and verify demographic and insurance information. Schedule appointments, manage follow-ups, and respond to patient inquiries via phone and email with professionalism. Collect co-pays and handle basic billing or insurance-related inquiries. Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and welcoming. Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure seamless patient flow throughout the day. Back Office Duties You will play a key role in supporting the clinical team and ensuring patient care is delivered efficiently and with empathy.
Responsibilities include:
Recording patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and updating medication lists. Prepare patients for exams by collecting their medical history and addressing any preliminary concerns. Performing diagnostic tests such as accu-checks, EKGs, pulse oximetry, and administering nebulizer treatments or pulmonary function tests (PFTs) as ordered. Assisting with blood work and preparing specimens for lab processing while maintaining proper labeling and documentation procedures. Triage patient phone calls based on urgency, prioritizing illnesses or conditions that need immediate attention. Preparing and maintaining exam rooms with necessary supplies such as gowns, drapes, cotton balls, and sterilized instruments. Monitor and restock supplies as needed to ensure uninterrupted clinical operations. Administering injections, including vaccines such as Pneumonia and Hepatitis B, under physician supervision, and ensuring vaccines are within expiration dates. Safely disposing of biohazard materials, managing sharps containers, and maintaining compliance with safety protocols. Assisting physicians during exams and minor procedures, including PAP tests and minor surgical setups, while maintaining sterile techniques. Reviewing test results such as blood work, X-rays, mammograms, and bone density scans with the physician and contacting patients to communicate results and any required follow-ups. Monitoring and maintaining sample medications, ensuring they are organized, accounted for, and within expiration dates. Conducting routine checks on office stock medications and supplies to ensure availability for patient care. Assisting with patient care tasks such as addressing symptoms of urinary tract infections (UTIs) or flank pain, providing guidance on care, and offering physical and emotional support during visits. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred. Previous experience in both front and back office roles in a clinical setting is highly desirable. Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and other medical office software. Strong attention to detail, multitasking abilities, and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-first attitude.
