Job Description

Bring your medical assisting skills/experience to our team at Orlando Orthopaedic Center, certification a plus but not required. Since 1972, Orlando Orthopaedic Center has remained independently owned and has grown to include 24 orthopaedic specialists across multiple subspecialties, many of whom are recognized leaders amongst their peers nationwide. We have nine Orlando Orthopaedic Center locations throughout Central Florida, plus a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center at the heart of our downtown campus located in the trendy SoDo Shopping District just south of downtown Orlando. To provide more immediate care, we have opened several orthopaedic injury walk-in clinics located throughout Orlando and the surrounding communities. Whether it is supporting the local Arthritis Foundation in their annual walk or providing pre-participation sports physicals to high school students, our team at Orlando Orthopaedic Center is actively making a difference throughout Central Florida.
POSITION
Branch Assigned Clinical Assistant

Branch Manager
JOB SUMMARY
Prepares patients to see the physicians. Ensures lab tests, diagnostic imaging reports and other paperwork is in the chart as needed. Assists physician with clinical duties as directed. Handles and processes all incoming inquiries from patients, staff and other entities. Organizes and processes incoming mail and faxes.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma required CMA certificate, preferred Training in orthopaedic assisting is a plus BMO certification is a plus
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
At least one year of experience in clinical assisting; orthopaedic clinical assisting a plus; Proficient using email and word processing software Knowledge of practice management and electronic health record software (EHR) Familiarity with digital imaging software, preferred Ability to perform multiple and diverse tasks simultaneously Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor Strong written and verbal communication skills Neat, professional appearance Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Clinical Support Runs clinic for assigned provider Greets patients and escorts them from the waiting room to exam rooms; prepares patients for exam or treatment Reviews medical history with patients and updates information in EHR accordingly Takes patient vitals according to the provider preference and logs vitals into EHR accordingly Orders X-Rays according to specified protocols Imports diagnostic images from outside imaging centers into PACS (digital imaging software); organizes in-house images into briefcases within PACS documenting appropriately in EHR Performs a clinical review of charts for upcoming appointments at least two days prior to appointment date. Obtain any necessary items required for the office appointment. Remind the patient to bring images as needed Assists with suture and staple removal, minor procedures, and fracture reductions in office Replenishes supplies, sets up and cleans exam rooms as needed Applies, adjusts and removes casts, splints, braces and other DME products according to the physician's order Draws up injectable medications Performs patient education when appropriate; to include instructions in cast and splint care and use of medications Logs and dispenses medications to patients, if applicable Processes medications to pharmacy and documents in EHR according to established protocols, if applicable Disposes of contaminated items according to OSHA guidelines Ensures the Superbill for each office visit is accurate and complete, updates status in EHR accordingly Ensures all forms or orders are accurate, complete, and signed prior to giving to patient Completes MIPS requirements for all patients Schedules patients' follow up and ancillary appointments as needed Branch Support Assists team members with their assigned clinics as needed Maintains inventory of all clinical supplies and medications; includes ordering and unpacking supplies upon receipt Ensures exam rooms and nurse stations are adequately stocked, clean and organized Ensures clinical equipment (i.e. autoclave) is cleaned and tested as needed Assists with training new team members as needed Completes all other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager Other Ensures all documentation released is logged appropriately in the patient's chart following the Release of Information guidelines Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice Maintains detailed knowledge of computer software as it relates to job functions Attends CPR and OSHA training programs as required Maintains certifications and registrations per state guidelines Attends all regular meetings Typical Physical Demands Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking for over an 8 hour day. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Normal visual acuity and hearing are required. Employee will be exposed to biohazard materials on a regular basis. Typical Working Conditions Employee will have some exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances (ie: cleaning products), medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Employee must work well under pressure and may be required to work flexible hours.
