96 Position Summary Under general direction, the Medical Assistant works with patients, families, providers, other providers, and staff to promote timely access to needed care, providing daily continuity of care coordination, and coaching patients, families, and caregivers to understand the patient's care plan and self-care management responsibilities. Responsibilities, knowledge, skills, abilities, and working conditions may change as needs evolve. Performs other related duties as assigned. Standard Work Duties:
LRHPG Medical Office Assistant Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives. Assist in delivering quality care to providers, patients, patients' families, and caregivers. Be aware and sensitive to cultural differences between patients and co-workers. Demonstrate personal responsibility and respect for patients, their families, and co-workers in professional appearance. Perform job related duties such as vital signs, phlebotomy, assisting with procedures as trained, and EKG. Engage patients, patients' families, and their caregivers in understanding and monitoring patient self-management care plans in a manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate to the patient and caregiver. Collect and document data related to patient needs. Develop and maintain relationships among patients and their families, care team that supports their access to the medical home. Provide timely communication with patients, make inquiries, and execute follow-up actions between disciplines. Participate in continuing professional growth through attendance at workshops and professional in-services and through independent research and reading to include timely and respectful communication skills. Demonstrates a complete understanding of their assigned specialty's service line practices and standards. Follows departmental standard operating procedures (SOP) and policies. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with provider directives. Maintains sanitation and cleanliness of exam rooms and stocks necessary supplies or materials as needed throughout the workday. The worker in this role must demonstrate competencies as applicable to job. Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager. Serves as a physician liaison. Able to connect providers with internal and external resources
Competencies & Skills Essential:
Knowledge of professional medical assisting theory, federal and state regulations and standard practices and procedures that are within the standard scope of their practice. Knowledge of safety practices that prevent exposure to known workplace hazards and the necessary action needed when exposed. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Skill in identifying problems and clearly communicating and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing/maintaining medical records and responding to correspondence. Apply the principles of comprehensive, community-based, patient-centered, developmentally appropriate, and culturally and linguistically appropriate care. Ability to maintain Joint Commission standards.
Qualifications & Experience Essential:
High School or Equivalent Essential:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting (MA) program.

Certifications Essential:
BLS and MA certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA).
