Behavioral Health Medical Assistant (CMA/MA) Better Behavioral Alpharetta, GA Full-Time | Monday-Friday | No Weekends About Us Better Behavioral is a growing behavioral health practice dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric and therapy services. We are seeking a dependable, organized, and professional Medical Assistant to join our Indianapolis team. Position Summary The Behavioral Health Medical Assistant serves as a key member of the clinical support team, providing direct patient care and administrative support to our psychiatric providers. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient behavioral health environment. Responsibilities Obtain and document patient medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and pharmacy information Record vital signs and prepare patients for appointments Administer injections as ordered by providers Perform urine drug screen (UDS) collections and documentation Perform venipuncture and specimen collection Process laboratory orders and coordinate diagnostic testing Complete prior authorizations and medication-related requests Assist with prescription refill requests and pharmacy communications Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records Schedule appointments and coordinate patient follow-up care Verify insurance information and obtain necessary documentation Process incoming referrals, records, and provider orders Communicate professionally with patients, providers, pharmacies, and outside healthcare organizations Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all company policies and procedures Qualifications Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent certification preferred Minimum one year of medical assistant experience preferred Experience administering injections and performing venipuncture preferred Behavioral health, psychiatry, addiction medicine, or outpatient specialty clinic experience is a plus Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Excellent communication and patient-service skills Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in sensitive situations Preferred Qualifications Prior authorization experience Urine drug screening experience Knowledge of psychiatric medications Experience working with controlled substance monitoring protocols Experience in behavioral health or substance use treatment settings Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Paid training Paid time off Monday-Friday schedule No weekends Supportive team environment Opportunities for growth and advancement If you are passionate about patient care and want to make a difference in the lives of individuals seeking mental health treatment, we encourage you to apply.
