[Date] About Our Practice We are a busy, patient-centered pediatric endocrinology practice dedicated to providing exceptional care for children and adolescents with endocrine disorders, including diabetes, growth concerns, thyroid disorders, obesity, and other hormonal conditions. We strive to create a supportive environment for our patients, families, and team members. We are seeking a highly motivated, dependable, and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. This position is particularly well-suited for individuals planning careers in medicine, physician assistant studies, nursing, or other healthcare professions and who are seeking meaningful clinical experience during a 1-2 year gap period. ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties Room patients and obtain vital signs, height, weight, and growth measurements. Document patient histories and update medical records in the electronic health record (EHR). Assist providers during patient visits and procedures. Perform point-of-care testing, including blood glucose measurements and HbA1c testing. Educate patients and families on basic diabetes management and use of monitoring devices as directed by providers. Coordinate laboratory orders, referrals, and imaging requests. Prepare examination rooms and maintain clinical supplies. Assist with prescription refills and prior authorizations. Administrative Duties Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up visits. Answer patient phone calls and electronic messages. Communicate with pharmacies, schools, laboratories, and insurance companies. Maintain accurate and timely documentation. Support quality improvement and patient care initiatives. QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree or completion of undergraduate coursework. Strong interest in healthcare and working with children and families. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment. Professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail. Commitment to remain in the position for at least 12-24 months. Preferred Medical Assistant certification (not required). Prior clinical, research, scribing, EMT, CNA, or healthcare experience. Applicants planning a gap year(s) before medical school, PA school, nursing school, or other healthcare professional programs.
