Our highly specialized physicians are experienced in the latest diagnostic techniques and treatment options. Our physician-owned practice is committed to providing the highest level of orthopedic care available. We are currently seeking a full-time dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team! Under the direction of the surgeon and providers, prepares patients to see the surgeon, facilitates ancillary tests and pre-operative counseling as needed, and assists with clinical duties as directed.
Duties:
Provides outstanding customer service, by providing information, services, and assistance when needed. Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history and confirming purpose of visit. Greets patients and escorts them from the waiting room to exam room Documents in the electronic health record health history, list of medications, allergies, family and social history Retrieves x-rays, MRIs, office notes, etc. for the physician Takes phone messages and responds as directed by the physician Documents orders, referrals, testing and follows up to ensure patients completed. Assists surgeon in preparing for examinations and minor procedures Draws injectable drugs Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization Cleans and stocks exam rooms with necessary supplies. Disposes of contaminated items according to OSHA guidelines Performs patient education duties; shows surgical videos, hands out brochures, and directs patients to specific Internet sites for more information, when appropriate Takes medical stock inventory and communicates supply shortages to supervisor Schedule surgeries and provides pre-operative instructions to patients Completes all logs Obtains and handles laboratory specimens according to CLIA guidelines Dispense DME and ensure billing information is appropriate for Schedules and/or arranges for PT per physician orders Handle prescription refill requests Education and experience required: High school degree required Completion of Medical Assisting program CMA required Knowledge of Athena preferred Training in orthopedic surgery assisting a plus Proficient knowledge/ability with all Microsoft Office Applications. HIPAA compliant. Must have outstanding organization skills with the ability to multi-task. Ability to work well with physicians and co-workers. Strong oral and written communication skills. Understanding of health insurance and workers compensation. We offer Medical/Dental/Vision/Life/401(k), and paid holidays.
