We also provide Ultrasound, CT scans, Radiology, and Lab Services. Job Summary Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician or physician extender. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by a physician or physician extender. Job Duties & Responsibilities Greet and identify patients promptly and courteously by verifying their name and date of birth while also keeping them updated and informed on wait times if they are experiencing delays. Prepare and show patients to treatment rooms for patient examinations. Clean and stock examination rooms after each patient. Clean and sterilize medical instruments according to mandated policy. Observe and follow OSHA, CLIA, and ADA guidelines. Ensure all patient documentation has been received and reviewed by the physician, including but not limited to, the following: Consulting physician notes, test results, and home health care reports. Review the patient's Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) for routine testing needed and Patient-Specific Alerts. Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in the medical records system. Verify the patient's chief complaint, additional problems, and symptoms. Assist in treating patients by following the supervising physician's standing orders. Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing. Explain technical medical information, treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients while also verifying the patient's understanding. Document all patient communication clearly and efficiently. Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms. Assist in scheduling procedures, tests, x-rays, and laboratory studies with the appropriate hospitals or treatment centers through the electronic medical record system. Communicate appointment time, place, and pretesting protocol with the patient. Monitor and complete required documents daily and respond to patient inquiries in a timely manner. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Firm grasp of medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies. Strong knowledge of basic medical terminology. Evaluate Information to Determine Compliance with Standards. Plan and prioritize work using time-management skills. Organizational skills and the ability to multitask. Document and record information with extreme attention to detail. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively in a courteous and friendly manner. Basic computer skills and the ability to operate simple to moderately complex software platforms. Ability to demonstrate and maintain a compassionate attitude with others. Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with persons of varying personality types. Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and manage change effectively. Use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions or approaches to problems. Minimum Education High School Diploma or Completion of a GED required. Minimum Work Experience Two or more years of experience working in an outpatient clinic setting as a medical assistant or LPN preferred. Licenses/ Certifications Certified or Registered Medical Assistant LPN license can be used in lieu of CMA certification. Physical Requirements Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
