ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned. Receive and direct phone calls, schedule appointments, check-in patients, obtain necessary patient information to file and update patient records, and ensure all forms and consents are completed by patients Check-out patients, assist with referral processing, and arrange laboratory services Handle billing process Prepare patients for examination, take vitals, and record patients' health history Set-up EKG machines, spirometer, administer injections and medications, and perform routine specimen collection and tests Allergy testing and shot administration Prepare equipment and examination rooms, and clean instruments Assist physician with medical treatments, procedures, and exams Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies Provides solutions to patient problems and recognizes and seeks help in emergent/hazardous situations Executes follow-up calls with a sense of urgency Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight, takes brief history, past medical, family and social history current medications, allergies and other pertinent historical information as appropriate Assists with procedures directly supervised by the provider Follows documentation procedures and completes required documentation related to patient visit Responsible for ensuring patient areas remain neat and tidy throughout the day Responsible for cash and check reconciliation l Maintain a neat and clean work environment and professional appearance Adhere to all relevant health and safety procedures EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required Prior experience performing clerical tasks in a medical office setting Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant Medical Assistant Certificate or equivalent experience Knowledge of basic computer software and the ability to learn electronic medical records
