Job Description

J. C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center is a federally qualified community health center which exists to provide patient-centered primary health care services to the medically underserved residents of the greater Savannah-Chatham County, Georgia community. The Health Center makes comprehensive primary care, integrated behavioral health care, oral health care, and inpatient respite care services available to all persons, including the homeless and low-income uninsured and underinsured, regardless of ability to pay. The J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center excels in the provision of compassionate care and promotes healing through healthy living. Our team of highly skilled providers partners with patients in need to enable them to achieve and maintain optimal health and wellness across their life cycle. J C Lewis Primary Health Care Center is seeking a skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting physicians and other healthcare professionals in providing exceptional patient care. The Certified Medical Assistant will perform various clinical and administrative duties in accordance with industry standards and practice protocols.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist physicians and nurses during examinations and procedures. Take patient medical histories and vital signs. Prepare examination rooms and ensure cleanliness and sterility. Perform basic laboratory tests and procedures, such as blood draws and specimen collection. Administer medications and injections under physician supervision. Provide patient education and instructions as directed by the healthcare provider. Schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Handle administrative tasks such as answering phones, responding to patient inquiries, and processing paperwork. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols
Qualifications:
Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited institution. High school diploma or equivalent Current CPR certification. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team. Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) a plus. Pediatric experience required.
