Atlanta Pediatric Partners The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for supporting providers in delivering high-quality, patient-centered pediatric care. The CMA performs clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional patient and family experience. The CMA serves as a key member of the care team and contributes to the practice's mission of providing safe, compassionate, and efficient pediatric healthcare services. Work Schedule This is a part-time position with an anticipated schedule of approximately 20 hours per week , consisting of:
Monday:
3:00 PM•7:30
PM Tuesday:
3:00 PM•7:30
PM Thursday:
3:00 PM•7:30
PM Saturday:
8:00 AM•1:30 PM Additional hours may be available based on patient volume, staffing needs, and practice growth. Flexibility to work occasional additional hours, as needed, is preferred Essential Clinical Responsibilities Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examination and treatment. Obtain and accurately document vital signs, including: Temperature Pulse Respiratory rate Blood pressure Pulse oximetry Height and weight Body Mass Index (BMI) Head circumference, when appropriate. Assist providers during examinations and procedures. Prepare and administer medications, immunizations, and nebulizer treatments as directed by providers and in accordance with clinical protocols. Provide patient and parent education regarding medications, treatments, immunizations, and follow-up instructions. Accurately document patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), including: Immunization records Growth charts Medical history updates Laboratory results Provider instructions Visit documentation and follow-up recommendations. Review and prepare charts prior to patient visits. Scan and upload medical records, laboratory reports, emergency room notes, and outside provider documentation. Perform and document in-office testing, including: Rapid Strep Tests Urinalysis (UA) Hemocue Testing Lead Screening Cholesterol Screening Vision Screening Hearing Screening Other point-of-care testing as assigned. Collect, label, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Ensure proper handling and storage of specimens according to established protocols. Monitor and document vaccine and refrigerator temperatures twice daily. Maintain laboratory quality control logs and documentation. Participate in telephone and in-person triage as directed by providers. Respond to patient messages, refill requests, and clinical inquiries before the close of business whenever possible. Escalate urgent clinical concerns appropriately. Maintain and adhere to infection prevention and control protocols. Follow OSHA, HIPAA, CDC, and practice safety guidelines. Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and clinical areas. Ensure all examination rooms and clinical areas are properly stocked. Administrative Responsibilities Support front and back office operations to ensure efficient patient flow. Monitor and maintain medical supply inventory and notify appropriate personnel regarding replenishment needs. Log, monitor, and maintain sample medications in accordance with practice policy. Assist with vaccine inventory management and documentation. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and workflow optimization projects. Attend staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education activities. Teamwork and Professional Expectations Demonstrate professionalism and compassion in all interactions with patients, families, and team members. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA requirements. Support cross-training initiatives and provide assistance in other areas of the practice as needed. Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and patient-centered work environment. Perform other duties as assigned by providers, the LPN Supervisor, or the Practice Administrator. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification. Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification. Minimum of one year of clinical experience preferred. Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Pediatric experience. Experience administering childhood immunizations. Experience with patient triage and laboratory procedures. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, and assist patients as necessary. Ability to use computers and clinical equipment throughout the workday.
Pay:
$20.00•$23.00 per hour
