Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITIONS
To ensure that all duties assigned are done in a timely manner and to participate in patient care within all aspects of a primary care physician's medical office setting, as well as within the confines of the scope of practice relevant to medical assistant. To strive to become the best co worker and caregiver.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

MEDICAL ASSISTANT POSITION
  • Provides care in an office setting directed toward meeting the medical needs of the patient.
  • Care given reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations.
  • Utilizes initiative and strives to maintain steady level of productivity.
  • Is a self starter .
  • Is compatible and supportive; and a team player .
  • Communicates on behalf of the patient reflects the mission, ethics and goals of the facility.

Following Areas:
Coordinates and supervises patient care. Gives care to the patient, reflecting flexibility in rules and regulations, as indicated by individual patient needs. Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of facts, knowledge of diseases/surgical conditions, care required and good judgment. Performance reflects knowledge in all areas of care specific to primary care. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Organizes and manages nursing activities reflecting due consideration for patients' needs and the needs of the facility and staff. Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; a self starter; compatible and supportive; a team player. Knowledge of medications.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to Administrator, Nurse Manager, co workers and physicians.
  • Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
  • Practices good guest relations.
  • Maintains a good working relationship and effective communication within the office and for the benefit of the patient.
  • Meets current documentation standards and policies.
  • Maintains an environment that provides the patient and family with feelings of safety and security.
  • General knowledge of sterilization process.
Professional Requirements:
  • Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements; nursing and facility policies, procedures and standards.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time .
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
