MercyOne Genesis is seeking a highly motivated Pathology Assistant to join our collaborative and well-established pathology team. This role plays a critical part in supporting diagnostic services through surgical pathology, working closely with board-certified pathologists in a high-quality, patient-focused environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a Pathology Assistant who enjoys a mix of grossing, and advanced laboratory procedures, with rare autopsy support in a collegial and team-oriented setting. Key Responsibilities Perform gross examination and description of surgical specimens Prepare and submit tissue for light microscopy and special studies Coordinate and obtain specimens for advanced testing (e.g., flow cytometry, cytogenetics, cultures, immunofluorescence, electron microscopy) Collaborate with pathologists to determine appropriate special techniques (e.g., tumor triage, frozen sections, toxicology, perfusion, etc.) Ensure accurate specimen accessioning and documentation Obtain relevant clinical history and medical records for case review Maintain and follow surgical pathology protocols Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies Support organ/tissue procurement and research requests as needed Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and assist with CAP and Joint Commission inspections Ensure cleanliness and readiness of grossing suites Qualifications Master's degree from a NAACLS-accredited Pathology Assistant program required ASCP certification (or eligible) preferred Strong knowledge of anatomic pathology techniques and procedures Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Why Join MercyOne Genesis?
