MercyOne Genesis is seeking a highly motivatedPathology Assistant to join our collaborative and well-established pathology team. This role plays a critical part in supporting diagnostic services through surgical pathology, working closely with board-certified pathologists in a high-quality, patient-focused environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a Pathology Assistant who enjoys a mix ofgrossing, and advanced laboratory procedures, with rare autopsy support in a collegial and team-oriented setting. Key Responsibilities Performgross examination and description of surgical specimens Prepare and submit tissue forlight microscopy and special studies Coordinate and obtain specimens for advanced testing (e.g., flow cytometry, cytogenetics, cultures, immunofluorescence, electron microscopy) Collaborate with pathologists to determine appropriatespecial techniques (e.g., tumor triage, frozen sections, toxicology, perfusion, etc.) Ensure accuratespecimen accessioning and documentation Obtain relevantclinical history and medical records for case review Maintain and followsurgical pathology protocols Ensure propermaintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies Supportorgan/tissue procurement and research requests as needed Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and assist withCAP and Joint Commission inspections Ensure cleanliness and readiness ofgrossing suites Qualifications Master's degree from aNAACLS-accredited Pathology Assistant program required ASCP certification (or eligible) preferred Strong knowledge ofanatomic pathology techniques and procedures Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills Ability to work bothindependently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Why Join MercyOne Genesis?
