Serving the West Des Moines and Ankeny communities, our team delivers personalized care using innovative, minimally invasive procedures in a supportive and patient-focused environment. Position Summary Central States Pain Clinic is seeking a Clinical Medical Assistant to support both patient care and daily clinic operations. This role works closely with providers and clinical staff to ensure patients receive efficient, compassionate care while helping maintain smooth administrative and operational workflows. Clinical Responsibilities Collect and record patient information, including medical histories, vital signs, test results, and other relevant documentation while maintaining confidentiality. Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, medical instruments, and equipment for patient visits and procedures. Assist physicians and providers during examinations, treatments, and office-based procedures. Administer medications and assist with medication preparation under physician supervision. Support patient movement and transfers before and after procedures when needed. Provide patients and family members with courteous and compassionate assistance throughout their visit. Front Office & Administrative Support Answer incoming calls and route inquiries appropriately. Schedule appointments, register patients, and update medical records as necessary. Verify that required paperwork, consents, and documentation are completed accurately and maintained appropriately. Operations & Compliance Monitor inventory levels and restock medical supplies and examination rooms. Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable healthcare compliance standards. Participate in required annual education and training activities. Assist with additional clinic support duties as assigned.
Successful candidates will:
Enjoy working directly with patients while supporting clinical operations. Demonstrate strong communication skills with patients, providers, and coworkers. Maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail. Work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Be committed to delivering excellent patient-centered service. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Medical Assistant certification may be required. At least one (1) year of healthcare experience required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or similar software. Understanding of medical terminology, patient confidentiality standards, office procedures, and healthcare documentation practices. Strong interpersonal, customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
