About the Role The Surgery Center of Idaho is seeking a dependable, flexible, and patient-focused Medical Assistant Float to support clinical operations across multiple areas of our surgery center. This role is ideal for a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant who enjoys variety, teamwork, and hands-on patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment. The Medical Assistant Float works under the direction and supervision of licensed nursing staff and providers to support safe, efficient, and compassionate care. This position may assist in pre-op, post-op, procedure rooms, cystoscopy, operating room support, supply readiness, room turnover, and other clinical areas as needed. What You'll Do In this role, you will help keep patient care moving smoothly by supporting both clinical and operational needs throughout the surgery center.
Responsibilities include:
Greet, escort, and assist patients in a professional, compassionate, and safety-focused manner Obtain and document patient vital signs, weights, observations, and concerns according to protocol Assist with patient preparation before procedures and support patients after procedures as directed by nursing staff Assist postoperative patients with dressing, ambulation, discharge-readiness tasks, and safe transport to vehicles Float between cystoscopy, procedure, pre-op, post-op, operating room, and other assigned clinical areas Support cystoscopy procedures, biopsies, and related workflows under the direction of licensed staff and providers Prepare rooms, equipment, supplies, specimens, and documentation support as assigned Assist with operating room and procedure room turnover, including cleaning, restocking, room setup, and equipment readiness Pull surgical cases and supplies based on schedules, preference cards, and department procedures Stock clinical areas, operating rooms, procedure rooms, supply rooms, and scrub supplies Receive, unpack, verify, and put away freight, deliveries, supplies, and scrubs Communicate patient needs, delays, concerns, supply shortages, safety issues, or workflow barriers promptly Follow infection prevention standards, safety practices, HIPAA requirements, and organizational policies What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, adaptable, and comfortable working in a busy patient-care environment. You should be able to prioritize tasks, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively with providers, nursing staff, anesthesia staff, patients, families, vendors, and team members. Required Qualifications Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Healthcare background in clinical coordination, pre-op screening, ambulatory care, surgery center, or a related patient-care setting Strong communication, organization, documentation, prioritization, and time-management skills Ability to follow structured protocols, workflows, and escalation pathways Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to changing priorities in a busy surgical environment Familiarity with EHR systems and accurate clinical documentation practices Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and composure in a fast-paced setting Preferred Qualifications Experience in perioperative care, surgical clinic, cystoscopy, urology, anesthesia, or ambulatory surgery workflows Knowledge of sterile technique, infection-prevention practices, surgical case preparation, patient-care standards, and clinical safety requirements Experience supporting procedure-room or operating-room turnover, supply management, and patient flow Why Join the Surgery Center of Idaho?
