  • Internal Medicine Practice Position Summary The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for supporting physicians and clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care within an internal medicine practice.
This role includes both clinical and administrative responsibilities, ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and exceptional patient service. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, compassionate, and able to thrive in a fast paced healthcare environment while maintaining confidentiality and regulatory compliance. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and chief complaints. Assist physicians and providers during examinations and treatments. Perform routine clinical procedures, including: o Blood pressure checks o EKGs o Injections and immunizations o Phlebotomy (if applicable) o Specimen collection and processing Administer medications and vaccines as directed by providers. Prepare and clean examination rooms between patient visits. Maintain infection control and OSHA compliance standards. Monitor and stock clinical supplies and notify management of inventory needs. Provide patient education and follow-up instructions as directed by providers. Administrative Responsibilities Schedule patient appointments and manage provider calendars. Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and authorizations. Accurately document patient information within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)system. Respond to patient phone calls, messages, and prescription refill requests. Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, and medical records requests. Ensure timely scanning, filing, and organization of patient documentation. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred. Current Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, or equivalent). Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical office or internal medicine setting preferred. Experience with EMR systems required; NextGen experience preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, infection control, and patient care procedures. Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. Skills & Competencies Professional and compassionate patient interaction Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment Team-oriented mindset Strong time management and problem-solving abilities Commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity is sufficient to operate medical equipment and computers.
