Medical, Dental, Vision 457B and employer match for FT employees Company paid STD and LTD Job Summary The Orthopedic Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to orthopedic providers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This role is responsible for assisting with patient intake, clinical procedures, documentation, and coordination of care for patients with musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. The Medical Assistant functions as part of a multidisciplinary orthopedic care team in a fast-paced clinic environment. Job Specifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Candidates must have earned a Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited school. A Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification through the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is preferred, but we will also accept certifications from other testing agencies. A current CPR certification is required, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of the hire date. Experience in a medical office setting, particularly in an orthopedic or surgical clinic, is preferred. Familiarity with assisting in splinting, casting, and other orthopedic procedures is also highly desirable.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Must have knowledge of the following: current clinical practices commonly implemented by the orthopedic medical assistant, ; medical terminology; Service Organization and office policies and procedures; all technical equipment used; use of personal protective equipment in compliance with DCD and OSHA guidelines; rules and regulations concerning child abuse reporting and guardianship. The patient population must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.
ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS
Must have the ability to express thoughts in clear and concise terms, both verbal and written. Must have the ability to adapt and prioritize during high volume periods. Must have the ability and dexterity to operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner. Must be interested in self-motivation and self-improvement. Must be interested in all aspects of providing primary care and / or surgical services. Must be interested in clinical and financial aspects of performance in a medical office setting. Must be able to use tact, courtesy, and diplomacy when dealing with employees, supervisors, doctors, patients, insurance companies, and the general public. Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
