Job Description

Chicagoland Infectious Disease is a leading healthcare provider dedicated to enhancing the well-being of our patients. With a strong focus on infectious diseases, our experienced team collaborates closely with patients and multidisciplinary experts to deliver cutting-edge treatments based on the latest evidence-based practices. Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and adaptable Travel Medical Assistant to support and partner with a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Infectious Disease across multiple Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) environments. This role involves traveling to designated facilities including Covington/Greencastle and Sullivan, IN assisting with clinical tasks, ensuring smooth patient care operations, and providing reliable support to the Nurse Practitioner in the delivery of infectious disease care. Key Responsibilities Assist the Nurse Practitioner with patient assessments, exams, and infectious disease-focused procedures. Record and update patient information accurately in electronic medical records. Experience in EMR systems (PointClickCare (PCC) and Matrix). Measure and document vital signs, weights, and other clinical data. Collect, prepare, and process specimens as directed (e.g., swabs, cultures, lab orders). Prepare equipment to ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment. Support coordination of patient care, referrals, and follow-ups as directed. Act as a liaison between the Nurse Practitioner, facility staff, and patients to facilitate effective communication. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines. Travel daily to assigned Skilled Nursing Facilities within the designated region. Qualifications Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred. Minimum 1 year of medical assistant or clinical support experience; experience in infectious disease, long-term care, or skilled nursing strongly preferred. Familiarity with infection control practices and protocols. Strong communication, organization, and time management skills. Ability to work independently and adapt to different facility environments. Reliable transportation and valid driver's license required. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity to operate medical equipment and perform clinical tasks. Visual and auditory acuity to accurately observe, document, and communicate with patients and staff. Ability to travel daily between Skilled Nursing Facilities as required.
Pay:
$23.00 - $25.00 per hour
