Job Description

Job Overview:
The Medical Assistant at Indiana Neurology and Pain Center plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality patient care by performing both clinical and administrative duties. This position requires a compassionate individual with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.​
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
Prepare examination rooms by ensuring cleanliness and the availability of necessary supplies. Assist physicians during patient examinations and procedures. Record patient medical histories and vital signs, including blood pressure, height, weight, and temperature. Administer medications and injections as directed by the physician. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for analysis. Perform basic laboratory tests and document results. Educate patients on prescribed medications, diets, and care instructions. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.​
Administrative Duties:
Schedule patient appointments and manage calendars efficiently. Verify patient insurance information and obtain necessary authorizations. Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR) accurately. Handle billing and coding for insurance claims. Coordinate referrals to specialists and follow-up appointments. Manage inventory of medical supplies and place orders as needed. Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and relay messages to appropriate staff.
Additional Responsibilities:
Adhere to infection control and safety protocols at all times. Participate in continuing education and training programs. Cross-train in various departments, including Neurology and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), to provide comprehensive support. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.​
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential preferred but not required. Minimum of one to three years of experience in a clinical setting preferred. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.​
Compensation:
The starting pay rate is competitive and commensurate with experience. Opportunities for pay increases are contingent upon meeting performance criteria and organizational needs.
