Job Description
The Certified Medical Assistant, under direction of the Clinical Director of RHCs, collects patient information and provides direct patient care in the clinic setting. The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for complete and accurate data collection and recording, completion of routine and delegated direct care activities, and communicating and collaborating with the provider to prioritize workload so that patient outcomes are achieved.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs selected patient care and administrative duties and assists the provider as part of the clinical care team. Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment with recent test results and correspondence and determines needed services per practice protocol. Confers with provider regarding any incomplete patient tests/consults or other incomplete orders prior to patient visit. Prepares patients for examination and treatment, escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room and taking histories and vital signs. Prepares, cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms. Gives injections, immunizations, and draws blood; assists with EKGs, OB/GYN exams and office procedures as needed; provides other patient care services as directed by the provider. Administers medication upon provider order and responds to medication requester per practice protocol. Prepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipment. Assists with scheduling tests and treatments, and processing referrals to other providers. Creates and maintains patient records and other information as needed. Maintains strict confidentiality. Demonstrates a strong commitment to patient-centered care within an interdisciplinary environment. Interacts with patients, families, providers, and other staff in a professional, positive, and respectful manner. Consistently demonstrates a positive attitude Fosters teamwork by offering assistance to others Communicates clearly and effectively with other team members Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. Demonstrates clear ownership of workplace and patient safety. Reports mistakes, near misses, adverse events and quality and safety concerns. Participates in the development and implementation of safety and quality improvement activities. Protects patient confidentiality and abides by all HIPAA and privacy laws. Education:
Graduate of an accreditedMedical Assistant Program Licensure/Certification:
Certification as Medical Assistant required, as CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA orCMAA. CPR
certification required within one month of hire.Experience:
One to three years of clinical experience preferred. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments, common safety hazards and precautions and treatment room procedures required. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time; push, pull and reach. The ability to move and lift patients, when necessary. Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.Similar jobs in Linton, IN
