Pathologists' Assistant Confidential South Bend, IN Job Details Full-time 6 hours ago Qualifications Teamwork Medical documentation Interpersonal skills Attention to detail Organizational skills Full Job Description Qualifications Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pathologists' Assistant to join our dynamic pathology team serving a broad patient population across northern Indiana. In this vital role, you will work closely with pathologists to support the examination and diagnosis of surgical specimens. You will play an essential part in maintaining the integrity of the diagnostic process by ensuring accurate processing, thorough documentation, and proper preparation of tissue specimens for microscopic analysis. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, a commitment to quality, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced laboratory environment where collaboration, accuracy, and efficiency are critical. Responsibilities Gross description and complete dissection of surgical specimens Selection and submission of tissue sections for microscopic examinations Prepare and process surgical tissue specimens following established laboratory procedures and aseptic techniques Assist pathologists with gross examination, dissection, and documentation of specimens, ensuring precise anatomical identification Collect, label, and handle specimens with meticulous attention to detail, maintaining specimen integrity throughout processing Assure proper handling of all specimens in the Anatomic Pathology laboratory including review of relevant clinical information Responsibilities Minimum of 1 year experience is preferred, but not required ASCP certified or eligible Experience working with a wide variety of specimens, including highly complex specimens, in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills Ability to work and solve problems independently Ability to multi-task under a busy, unpredictable work flow Professional demeanor and the ability to work in a team environment Computer skills/proficiency, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Anatomic Path Information Systems and Electronic Medical Record systems Join us in advancing diagnostic excellence through your expertise!
