Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Occasional nights as needed. Summary The Medical Assistant is responsible for ensuring outstanding patient experience and providing an excellent level of customer service. This position performs both administrative and clinical tasks to support healthcare providers, including patient registration, taking vital signs, preparing exam rooms, assisting with procedures, documenting medical history, and maintaining patient records, all while prioritizing patient care. Essential Functions Assist physicians, ultrasound technicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses during exams and medical procedures. Provide patient education. Prepare treatment and exam rooms and cleans thoroughly for next patient. Maintain equipment and supply inventory. Triage patient phone inquiries according to physician and/or departmental protocols and documents such actions in patient's chart. Maintain safe, clean, and organized work environment for co-workers, patients, and clinical team. Obtain vitals and record patient's medical history, chief complaint and pertinent medical information in our EMR system (Athenahealth). Obtain clinical photos and take measurements for compression stockings; upload to the chart. Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician. Help providers examine and treat patients with equipment and supplies during procedures. Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. Assist patients in donning their compression stockings. Maintain sterile field. Willingness to learn and cross-train such as front desk duties. Display outstanding customer service and patient care. Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree is preferred. Certified Medical Assistant, alternative equivalent or higher level of training considered required. Self-motivated and looking for personal development required. Ability to work and adapt in a fast paced, patient service-oriented environment required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal skills required. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in the performance of duties and responsibilities. Ability to effectively work with physicians, patients, and other personnel in a cooperative, collaborative manner to maintain high patient satisfaction required. Ability to maintain professional conduct in all work-related situations required. Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred; bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, professionalism, and exceptional patient service in a fast-paced clinical environment. Ability to understand, interpret, and follow written policies, procedures, protocols, training materials, and physician directives. One to three years of work experience working in a medical, dental or similar clinical service-oriented industry preferred. Ability to receive, comprehend, and execute verbal instructions from physicians, providers, managers, and other team members. Knowledge of health insurance in regard to referrals, authorizations, and claims preferred. Knowledge of computers, medical terminology, and insurance in order to effectively handle the patient encounter preferred.
