POSITION
Medical Assistant - Bilingual
REPORTS TO
Clinical Director Lead Nurse General duties : The Medical Assistant requires rendering excellent patient care services. Greet and update patient information, generate forms and communicate professionally with patient and MD and team members. Other duties are assigned by the Clinical Director according to policies and procedures and the mission of Louisiana Women's Healthcare.
Job responsibilities:
Patient Care Greet patients and updates patient information in EMR Generate forms in advance for scheduled patients and on demand for work-in patients Escorts patients into exam areas timely Performs vital signs and obtains patient history, records information on the appropriate visit form, recording chief reason/complaint for visit Updates relevant information on problem list at every visit Checks schedules and organizes patient flow Labels patient specimens for laboratory testing Enter lab orders per the physician into the medical records Ensures the encounter form is complete before directing patients to the discharge area Follow-up with all missed appointments, including no-shows; documents in the medical records and contacts patient for appropriate follow-up appointment Ensure exam rooms are neat and fully supplied Delivers all specimens to the appropriate receptacles with appropriate paperwork Maintains open communication between nurses Maintains strict patient confidentiality. Follows all HIPPA regulations Assists the Physician with the treatment of the patient and in providing instruction, education and advice on routine and minor medical questions.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures Knowledge of nursing theory, regulations and practices Knowledge of HIPPA regulations and compliance Skills; Computer literacy Skilled in data entry Demonstrate communication skills, tack, diplomacy, sensitivity, clarity and accuracy Maintain a positive working relationship with physician and other co-workers
Abilities:
Ability to understand interpret policies and regulations Ability to utilize good clinical judgment Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with physician, team member and patients Ability to follow policies and procedures as directed

Job Requirements Education and Background:
Previous experience as Medical Assistant in the private physician setting, preferabley OB/GYN office or Family Practice Computer literacy required Current Certified Medical Assistant Certificate Required to maintain certification Maintain CPR certification
Temperament:
Work well under stressful conditions Maintain a professional disposition
Physical Requirements:
Visual and manual dexterity for data entry on the computer Tolerate prolonged sitting or standing All duties to be performed with or without accommodation Ability to lift/stretch/bend in providing patient care Office Citizenship Expectations Maintains appropriate, professional conduct and appearance at all times; follows office dress code consistently. Completes work in an established time frame; seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed or pace is slow. Demonstrates willingness to perform other duties to assist the team effort for the benefit of the patients, physicians and fellow employees. Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles of the organization and changing environment. Consistently arrives at work on time and completes all tasks. When not in the office, arranges for coverage, or requests assistance to ensure assigned work is completed. Maintains work area in a professional, neat manner.
