JeffCare is a Federally Qualified Health Center offering primary care and behavioral health from two sites in Metairie and Marrero. JeffCare is a program of Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority. This position is located in the greater New Orleans metropolitan area in Marrero, LA. Compensation, Benefits & More No on-call or weekend work Competitive salary- based on experience Insurance Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) Flexible work schedule Retirement Possible student loan debt repayment Continuing education opportunities Free, nearby parking Filtered water stations Responsibilities Shows patients to rooms, takes vital signs, and facilitates the workflow of the physician or APRN's schedule Prepares individuals for medical visits, exams, and procedures Collects and simultaneously inputs data into the electronic health record Electronic Health Record (EHR) system Uses the EHR to retrieve patient's medical records, X-ray films, scans, lab work, etc. in preparation for the patient's visit Assists in medical procedures as assigned Administers medications and injectable medications/immunizations as assigned Completes any needed orders/referrals/follow-up for lab work, care coordination, and specialty care services after visit Performs general clerical duties in support of patient care, including answering phones, relaying messages, placing follow-up calls to patients, uploading, and faxing Qualifications & Skills Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish) Completion of training from an accredited Medical Assistant training program Two years of experience in a patient care setting Strong interpersonal and communication skills Calm, professional attitude in stressful situations and interactions High level of ethics in maintaining patient confidentiality Ability to multitask (handle multiple tasks simultaneously) Creative problem-solver Strong memory and concentration skills Proven ability to make good judgments and exercise analytic skills Demonstrated initiative and patience during daily work activities Excellent listening skills Alert, attentive and responsive Ability to communicate with patients, physicians, and other staff in verbal and written form Experience working in primary care and behavioral health provider's office is a plus High ethical standards and personal integrity Ability to provide care in a culturally competent way and consistently treat all with dignity and respect Contact Put your skills to work for the greater good.
