Gap Year Position About Yuko Family Medicine Yuko Family Medicine is a solo-physician primary care practice in Greater Boston that integrates Eastern and Western medical approaches to provide holistic, patient-centered care. We serve a diverse patient population across the lifespan, from pediatrics to adult medicine, and emphasize continuity, trust, and individualized care. Our mission is to deliver thoughtful, comprehensive care that evolves with patients through every stage of life. For students considering a career in healthcare, we offer an immersive, mentorship-driven clinical experience in a close-knit clinical setting. Position Overview The Medical Assistant works directly alongside a single attending physician, gaining firsthand exposure to outpatient primary care and clinical decision-making. This is a full-time, in-person role (40 hours/week, Monday-Friday) designed for a graduating senior or recent college graduate taking a gap year before medical school or another healthcare profession. You will play an integral role in both the clinical and administrative workflow of the practice while developing strong patient care, communication, and organizational skills. Extensive on-the-job training is provided. Responsibilities Room patients and obtain vital signs Prepare and review patient charts prior to visits Assist the physician during appointments and in-office procedures Document visits and assist with medical scribing Manage phone calls, scheduling, patient messages, and follow-up communication Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, prescriptions, and medical records Perform administrative tasks to support daily office operations Maintain professionalism, empathy, and discretion in all patient interactions Adhere to clinic policies and all applicable federal and state regulations Qualifications Graduating senior or recent college graduate planning a gap year before medical school or another healthcare profession Interest in pursuing a clinical, medical, or other pre-health career Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with patients Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment Prior clinical, medical assistant, scribing, or healthcare experience is preferred but not required Demonstrated curiosity, reliability, and commitment to patient care Why Join Yuko Family Medicine?
