The Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) will oversee the delivery, campus-specific development, and continuous quality improvement of the undergraduate medical education portfolio for the UMass Chan

Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Oversees the campus-specific component of development, implementation and assessment of the curriculum of the UMass Chan Lahey regional medical school campus, including Early Clinical Learning, LEAD@Lahey Pathway, Clinical Clerkships and rotations, Intersession courses, and Transition to Residency. Provides guidance, direction, and mentoring on all curricular components for the Curricular and Course Directors of Early Clinical Learning, Explorations, Horizons, and the Leadership Pathway. Works collaboratively with the Offices of Student Affairs, Interprofessional Education, Leadership and Faculty Development, and the Center for Simulation at the Lahey Campus to achieve seamless integration of the Lahey Leadership Track curriculum into the UMass Chan foundational and clinical curriculum. Oversees all regional campus curriculum committees and curriculum stakeholders to ensure that programs, resources, and services are prioritized and tailored appropriately to meet both the needs of learners and the educational mission. Works with UMass main and PURCH campus leadership to Identify and define critical learning objectives and outcomes in collaboration with key faculty and leadership in the clinical years, align curriculum and assessment to demonstrate these. Works closely with UMass Chan and Lahey institutional offices to review trends in curriculum evaluation (educational outcomes and student feedback), highlight opportunities to improve performance and implement related change. Serve as a liaison with UMass Chan and BILH educational partners, as well as other institutional departments in support of core responsibilities. Oversee outreach and community-based education programs at diverse clinical sites in conjunction with lead faculty, participating in faculty development and programmatic assessment. Manage curriculum calendar development with faculty, administrators and staff, including periodic adjustments including related technology. Collaborate with the Director of Simulation Center and education leaders to support the development and implementation of multiple methods for curriculum delivery and student assessment in order to enhance innovative and diverse curriculum delivery and student learning. Contribute to national efforts in improving medical education and educational innovation. Participate in ongoing and periodic accreditation efforts including LCME and NECHE. Direct supervision of appropriate professional staff overseeing supported programs including the Office of Education Affairs Functional supervision of support staff, who help coordinate curriculum committee meetings and processes, program planning and logistics, update websites, course and curriculum committee administrator meetings and manage daily administrative needs. Recruit and prepare faculty or other professionals to participate as leaders. Participate in decisions related to regional campus office structure, budget, staffing, and supervision. Use appropriate technology in support of all functions including working knowledge of Microsoft teams, PeopleSoft, Oasis, and Canvas. Perform other duties as required.Organizational Requirements:

Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department. Maintains clinical practice of medicine at Lahey Hospital Medical Center. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the service line.Key Relationships:

- Works collaboratively to oversee Office of Education budgets, personnel, performance improvement of operations to ensure high quality UME development and curriculum delivery. Assistant Dean of Leadership & Faculty Development
- Works collaboratively to ensure faculty have development, mentoring, and career advancement in medical education Director of Interprofessional Education
- Works collaboratively to identify opportunities and ensure interprofessional education programs are enhanced and implemented Vice Provost, Associate and Assistant Deans of Education at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester
- Partners with all education deans at main campus to ensure effective delivery of curriculum, assessments, and alignment with LCME standards Division/Department Chair Service Line
- For physician practice and clinical duties, reports to service line division and department chair. Office of Education Staff
- Provides oversight, education and leadership to staff which produce the best possible student outcomes.
Experience:
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant leadership experience in an LCME accredited medical school in undergraduate medical education and program development including curriculum design, delivery, and assessments or equivalent experience in a COCA accredited college of osteopathic medicine.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for diverse stakeholders is a must.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
MD or DO degree, plus a Master's degree in Education or comparable education degree strongly preferred. > 4 years of related experience in undergraduate medical education and/or curriculum development, assessments.Licensure, Certification, Registration:
Board certification in one or more specialties in medicine. Eligible for/or current License to practice medicine in Massachusetts.Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively plan and facilitate organized and productive meetings/workgroups. Ability to work independently and resolve complex issues with minimal supervision. Ability to manage concurrent projects with competing priorities and aggressive deadlines. Ability to influence others at all organizational levels in project-related situations. Strong analytic skills in order to manipulate, interpret, and utilize data for process improvement. Strong PC skills including proficiency in use of Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Project. In-depth understanding of context of assignments and tasks, and the ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing roles and priorities.Pay Range:
$350,000.00 USD- $410,000.
