Under the direction of the Physician, the Medical Assistant Co-op performs a variety of patient care and technical duties to support the work of the Physician and to facilitate delivery of care and education to patients. The Medical Assistant Co-op works closely with the professional staff to provide care and diagnostic testing for adult patients.

Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
(including but not limited to): Escorts patients to exam rooms and provides direct patient care. Prepares patient exam rooms to ensure they are ready for patients and doctors. Keeps the exam rooms stocked with supplies needed to perform patient assessments. Responsible for keeping exam rooms clean and compliant with regularly standards Performs diagnostic testing which may include but is not limited to, urine collection, phlebotomy, EKG, etc., as ordered Records vital signs and assists Physician with patient exams. Enters all data into electronic health record Complies with all Managed Care and Quality requirements (required vitals, e-prescribing, etc) Reports all pertinent observations to Physician, Office Manager, Director, or other health team member Coordinates surgical bookings, ancillary testing, prior authorizations and consultations as necessary Follows up with patients on test results, rx refills, and assists with patient education Functions as a liaison between the patient and their family and the health care team. Performs other related duties as required. Supports front desk duties as needed (mail, fax inbox, phones, check in, co-pay collection, etc.)QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduate or Equivalent Heart Saver or BLS CertificationPREFERRED EDUCATION
Medical Assistant CertificationMINIMUM EXPERIENCE
0-1 years of work-related experience required to perform the responsibilities of this job effectively.OTHER REQUIREMENTS

$19.00 - $19.00The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
