  • Under direction of management, physician and/or nursing, provides clinical and clerical support for patient care in primary care settings.
Performs vitals, venipuncture/phlebotomy, vaccine/injection administration, in-office testing, rooming, scheduling, EMR documentation, bucket management, materials management, and other duties/locations as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Conduct friendly, courteous, and respectful interactions with patients, visitors and staff.
  • Assist with implementation of care plans, assess health status, document interventions and evaluate patient progress.
  • Perform basic office laboratory procedures (urinalysis, pregnancy tests, throat cultures, etc.).
  • Perform venipuncture/phlebotomy and prepare/administer vaccines/non-IV injections as directed.
  • Coordinate patient flow, take vitals and EKGs, document intake assessments and assist providers with clinical procedures.
  • Triage medical calls per office protocol, return calls, document in patient record and handle prescription refill requests as directed.
  • Review lab results and notify physician of abnormal results as appropriate.
  • Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, schedule and coordinate visits and procedures.
  • Maintain clinical and office supplies including vaccines; ensure accurate inventory and initiate requisitions.
  • Collect copays, maintain records and reconcile daily deposits.
  • Process medical records incoming/outgoing per guidelines and handle clinical inbox/practice buckets.
  • Complete documentation and timely charge capture for services provided.
  • Provide coverage at other Heywood Medical Group locations as needed.
  • Participate in meetings, training, continuing education, quality improvement activities and complete required annual education and HEART program concepts.

FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Exerts up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or negligible force constantly to move objects.

QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of accredited Medical Office Assisting program or relevant experience preferred.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
  • CMA/RMA or equivalent required (candidates may obtain within six months of employment).
  • BLS through AHA required or must obtain within six months of employment.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in a medical office preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records required.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Reliable transportation required for travel between locations.
