We are a small, dynamic team where every member wears multiple hats to ensure our patients get the care they need. We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant who enjoys taking initiative, solving problems, learning new systems, and helping a small practice grow. This position is initially part-time (approximately 24-30 hours per week) and may expand to a full-time role as the practice continues to grow. Position Summary T he Medical Assistant will support both clinical and administrative workflows to help ensure patients receive timely, coordinated care. This role combines traditional Medical Assistant responsibilities with patient coordination, referral management, pre-visit planning, and office workflow support. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable with technology, and able to work independently while supporting a small team. Your primary mission will be to stabilize workflows and streamline administrative tasks to directly support our provider and enhance the efficiency of patient care.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Support Room patients and prepare exam rooms Obtain and document vital signs Reconcile medications, allergies, and pharmacy information Prepare patients for provider visits Reinforce provider-directed patient education and follow-up instructions Support efficient patient flow throughout the day Pre-Visit Planning Review upcoming appointments and identify missing records, laboratory results, imaging reports, or specialist notes Ensure relevant information is available before patient visits Assist with chart preparation to support efficient provider encounters Patient Coordination Process referrals and specialist appointments Obtain and track prior authorizations Coordinate diagnostic testing and follow-up appointments Assist patients with scheduling and patient portal questions Communicate with pharmacies, specialists, hospitals, and insurance companies as needed Provider & Office Support Prepare prescription refill requests for provider review according to office protocols Assist with management of patient messages, telephone encounters, and administrative requests Maintain accurate documentation within eClinicalWorks (eCW) Support office workflow improvements and operational initiatives Assist with adoption of new technology and systems designed to improve efficiency Qualifications Required Minimum 3 years of experience in an outpatient medical office Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on tasks Comfortable using electronic medical records and technology platforms Professional, patient-focused attitude Preferred Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) Primary care experience Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) Experience with referrals and prior authorizations Experience working in a small independent medical practice Proficiency in Spanish is required; fluency in Haitian Creole is a plus Why You'll Succeed Here This position is a great fit for someone who: Takes initiative and follows through on responsibilities Enjoys solving problems and finding answers Is organized and able to manage multiple priorities Learns new technology and systems quickly Communicates professionally with patients and team members Enjoys helping improve workflows and office efficiency Thrives in a collaborative, small-practice environment Wants an opportunity to grow as the practice grows You prefer a dynamic, small-team environment over a rigid, "siloed" practice where you only perform one task.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday Compensation:
Competitive and based on experience. Bilingual candidates (Spanish/Haitian Creole) are strongly encouraged to apply and may be eligible for a language differential.
