GED Full Job Description Overview:
The Medical Assistant will support smooth operations of the department by performing administrative and clinical tasks under the supervision of a licensed medical provider. The incumbent will assist with examination and treatment of patients as directed by the provider; assist staff with scheduling, test results, and other administrative tasks; and will assist with maintaining medical supply stock, entering patient data, and facilitating safe transitions of care. Full time. M-F. No weekends
Responsibilities:
Prepare and assist in the examination and treatment procedures of pediatric and adult patients as directed by healthcare providers. Enter pertinent patient data into the electronic medical record (EMR) as requested by the provider. Assist staff with scheduling appointments, requesting medical information, test results, photocopying, filing, and other tasks as assigned. Track high-risk referrals and lab tests. Facilitate safe transitions of care. Assist clinicians in pending orders for labs, durable medical equipment and facilitating medication refill requests. Assisting with obtaining prior authorization for the Spina Bifida and related medical program services as needed. Assist in the maintenance and inventory of medical supplies. Restock and prepare exam rooms for the next day according to par levels. Notify staff member responsible for ordering supplies when appropriate. Work within scope to answer phones; screens calls; EMR messages; and act as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure successful, timely, and compassionate communication. Review clinic schedules for accuracy and openings. Assist in filling appointment slots when needed. Assist providers with dictations to ensure compliance with billing and regulatory requirements. Function effectively as a collaborative team member with demonstrated commitment to group goals and teamwork.
Qualifications:
Must possess and maintain Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) within 6 months of hire date.
EDUCATION
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Associates degree or higher preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in a medical and/or rehabilitation setting is highly desirable.
Minimum pay range:
USD $36,955.00/Yr.
Maximum pay range:
USD $69,296.00/Yr.
