Frederick County Pediatrics is dedicated to providing exceptional pediatric care in a warm, family-centered environment. We provide care to patients from birth through age 21.
Position Overview:
The pediatric medical assistant functions under the supervision and guidance of the Pediatrician and participates in the multi-disciplinary process of providing care and treatment to patients and provides clinical support and technical assistance to the professional, medical, and other staff. The MA is responsible for functioning within the scope of practice dictated by the authority of Frederick County Pediatrics. Individual must be able to manage demanding workload with accuracy. Position requires excellent customer service skills with patients, and their families, other staff, physicians, vendors, and the public.
Key Responsibilities:
Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the practice. Adheres to the HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement. Prepares patients for examination and treatment, including taking histories and vital signs. Performs screening procedures as indicated. Follows standing order procedures as indicated by practice. Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments/supplies and performs terminal cleaning of exam rooms between patients. Assists with diagnostic tests, treatments and referrals. Maintains patient files, records and other information. Draws and processes blood via finger sticks and/or venous collections; centrifuges, labels and prepares sample for transport to lab. Administers prescribed medications including routine immunizations, therapeutic injections, and inhalation medications via nebulizer under the direction of a provider. Assists in maintaining compliance with quality assurance standards, including CLIA. Documents in vaccine, laboratory and medication inventory logs, logs refrigerator and freezer temps as required. Performs various quality control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations. Participates in Patient Centered Medical Home team meetings as needed and quality improvement initiatives. Maintains inventory of supplies and informs designated person of needed supplies. Remains current on all required training for current year including license certification and BLS.
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma required Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program Certified Medical Assistant required (CMA/RMA or equivalent) Pediatric or primary care experience preferred Reliable and punctual with a positive, team-first attitude Confident with pediatric rooming, obtaining vitals, administering vaccines/injections, and assisting providers as needed.. Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable completing patient follow-up calls (ex: recall lists) eClinicalWorks (eCW) experience preferred — training provided Enjoys working in a very friendly, supportive environment Why Join Us?
