Capital Women's Care is a 150+ group of OB/GYNs located throughout Greater Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. The Medical Assistant primarily provides clinical and administrative support to our OB/GYN physicians and other clinical staff. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills and be able to be empathetic towards patients while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Responsibilities Responsible for verifying patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary. Responsible for collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, giving patients injections and drawing blood. Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding electronic and paper medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential. Inform patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about surgery. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. Assist with sterilizing equipment / maintain proper working knowledge of the Autoclave. Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant certification required. 2 years of medical assistant experience required. At least 1 year of Ob/Gyn experience preferred. Ability to take and document patient vital signs. Ability to work within EMR system. Strong knowledge of medical terminology. Strong communication skills to effectively educate patients about their health. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Commitment to providing compassionate care while advocating for women's health issues. Schedule Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm Work Location In person
