Job Description

Under direct supervision of the histology supervisor, assists histotechnologist in daily workflow of clinical histology lab. Responsible for dewaxing and organizing blocks, labeling and distributing slides, and changing the solution for stainer and processor. Operation and maintenance of formalin and xylene recycler. Filing of blocks and slides. Stocking up reagent and supplies for the laboratory. Assistants with miscellaneous support duties.
Education:
HS:
Additional college credits or laboratory training is desirable.
Experience:
At least one year's experience of working in the laboratory.
Skills:
Knowledge of laboratory terminology Knowledge of chemical handling. Skill in oral, written and interpersonal communication Skill in basic computers Skill in minor problem-solving
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for waxing off and organizing embedded blocks in a timely manner and per established protocols. Handles discrepancies efficiently and in a positive manner. Cleans embedding area. Performs computer functions for histology blocks, slides and procedures including assigning, labeling and ordering. Responsible for accurate labeling and distribution of all histology slides. Responsible for changing reagents and solution in the histology tissue processor and stainer in a timely manner Maintains formalin and alcohol recycling functions. Capable of multitasking and prioritizing tasks on hand for to ensure efficient turnaround times Manages inventory to maintain an appropriate level of supplies for histology laboratory, such as formalin-filled containers and labeled cassettes File block and slides for onsite and offsite storage. Keeps laboratory area clean and organized. Performs other functions as assigned.

Pay Range $19.92 - $29.87 Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
